Have you ever found yourself daydreaming about leaving your job but feeling stuck on how to turn that dream into reality? Whether you're longing for more fulfillment or simply ready for a change, exit manifestation could be the strategy you need.
Manifestation isn’t just about wishful thinking; it’s the practice of transforming your thoughts, feelings, and actions into tangible outcomes. In this post, the CQ Team will help you consider four practical ways to consciously manifest your resignation and set yourself on a winning path toward a new chapter.

Scripting to Understand Your “Why?”
Why are you leaving your job? Gaining clarity on your reasons is key to making a purposeful move—and avoiding the mistakes of the past. Scripting, or the process of journaling your thoughts and feelings, is a powerful way to clarify your motivations.
By writing down what isn’t working in your current role and envisioning what you want for your future, you can close the door on this chapter with confidence while opening yourself to new possibilities. Here are some questions to guide your reflection:
What specific circumstances no longer serve me, and why?
How do I want to feel in my next role?
By answering these, you’re not just identifying what needs to change—you’re also declaring your intent to welcome more fulfilling opportunities into your life. This intentional step sets a strong foundation for your next career move.

Resume Refresh
One of the first steps to initiating your exit manifestation is to dust off your resume and update your skills and job experience. When was the last time you updated your resume? My own career transitions have taught me to update my resume at least three times a year.
This is a crucial step for identifying your strengths and weaknesses, which will ultimately lead you to future opportunities in your job search. Updating your resume is also a good way to boost your confidence as you confront the uncertainties of a career change. Focus on all your deliverables and successes in your job and highlight the impact you made throughout your career.
Our Team will post future blogs highlighting resume writing (e.g. bulleting your work experience and highlighting your best skills) in more detail.

Intentional Networking
Once your resume is fully refreshed, it’s time to get it in front of the right people. If you’re planning to ‘exit stage out’ of your current job, a necessary step is to share your resume with close friends, for their honest feedback, and with trusted industry colleagues who might be able to open new doors for you. Ask yourself, “Who can I reach out to for advice?”
Tapping into your network is an expected step in your job transition journey, especially if you are at the mid-career stage.

Clean Your Desk to Clear Your Path
As a practice, I like to mark the beginning of each career move with a small but symbolic act: I clean and declutter my desk. This simple yet symbolic step often gets overlooked but is incredibly powerful. Clearing my physical workspace helps me to mentally and emotionally prepare for the new path I am creating.
Decluttering your workspace signals to yourself and the universe that you’re ready for something new. It isn’t just about tidying up; it's also about letting go, making room —both literally and figuratively— for fresh opportunities, all while affirming your intent to transition with new clarity and purpose.
Most importantly, keep your newly decluttered desk clean. The cleared desk is a metaphor for your transit towards the ‘exit stage out’ phase of your transition. It also makes for a lighter last day at work!
Our book, Consciously Quitting: A Guide for Navigating Your Career Transition, can help if you’re considering shifting career gears. All you require to start your next chapter is a single, intentional step. By scripting to understand your “why,” refreshing your resume, connecting with your network, and even cleaning your desk, you’re not just quitting your job—you’re consciously constructing your future.
